Printed flat, wrapped tight
A rigid box is never printed directly. The design goes onto a sheet of wrap paper first, where ink sits sharp and colour can be checked. Only then is the sheet glued over the board, so every edge and corner carries the artwork and no raw board shows.

Frequently asked questions
Should I print my rigid boxes in CMYK or Pantone?
CMYK builds every colour from four inks and suits photographs, gradients and multi-colour artwork. Pantone (PMS) inks are mixed to one exact shade, so they suit logos and solid brand colours that must match from run to run. Many boxes use both: CMYK for the picture and one Pantone ink for the logo.
What paper is the print on?
On a wrap sheet, not on the board. The usual choice is 157 gsm coated art paper, which holds fine detail. Kraft, linen-embossed and other textured papers are available, though uncoated papers give softer colour.
What file do you need for printing?
A vector PDF or AI file placed on our dieline, with fonts outlined and images at 300 dpi in CMYK. If you only have a logo, send it and our designers set up the artwork on the template for free.
What are bleed and wrap allowance on a rigid box dieline?
Bleed is artwork that runs past the cut line so no white edge shows after trimming. Wrap allowance is the extra paper, usually 15 to 20 mm, that folds over the board edges and into the box. Both are marked on the dieline we send, along with a safe area for text.
Can you print the inside of the box?
Yes. The inside is lined with a separate printed sheet, so the lid lining, base and tray can carry a pattern, a message or a solid colour that differs from the outside.
Will the printed colour match my screen?
Not exactly. A screen makes colour with light (RGB) and a press makes it with ink, so shades shift a little. Pantone references give the closest match, and you approve a digital proof before anything is printed.
How is foil added to a printed rigid box?
Foil is pressed onto the printed wrap with a heated metal die before the wrap is glued to the board. The die is made for your design, which adds a one-off set-up cost. Gold, silver, rose gold and coloured foils can sit beside embossing or spot UV.
Which lamination should I choose for printed boxes?
Matte gives a soft, low-glare surface, gloss makes colour look brighter, and soft-touch adds a velvety feel. All three protect the ink from scuffs and from cracking along the folded edges; dark solid colours benefit most.
What is the smallest print run you accept?
No minimum order. A short run is a sensible way to check colour and finish before a larger order.
How long do printing and wrapping take?
Allow 7–10 business days from proof approval to finished boxes, then 3–5 business days for free delivery in the USA. If the date is tight, rush production takes 5 business days.
